Car Bomb Explodes Outside Danish Embassy in Pakistan 
...ISLAMABAD, Pakistan — A car bomb exploded outside the Danish Embassy in an upscale area of the Pakistani capital Monday, killing at least six people, according to reports from hospitals.

Car Crashes into House in Saint Paul, Minnesota
.. SAINT PAUL, MN -- It was a jarring start to the day for one St. Paul family as a car crashed into their kitchen just before 5:00 Sunday morning.
The situation started as a carjacking, and within blocks the stolen car crashed into another SUV before careening into the house on Jessamine Avenue.

Truck Crashes into Fabric Store
.. WILLMAR, MN -- The smashed front-end of a pickup is seen Wednesday, April 4, 2007, through the broken windows of a store in Willmar, Minn. One person died Thursday of injuries from the accident. Police Chief James Kulset said the crash started when the pickup collided with a car at the entrance to the parking lot of the Kandi Mall, and the pickup kept going. Two more suits are settled for $6 million in Santa Monica Farmer's Market Tragedy.
... Santa Monica, CA - The city of Santa Monica and other defendants will pay $21 million to settle dozens of civil lawsuits arising from the July 2003 crash at the downtown Farmers' Market that left 10 people dead and 63injured. The city and the elderly driver have been blamed for the crash that killed 10 people.
The amount includes a $6-million resolution, announced Wednesday, in the final two cases in the long-running legal controversy. It also includes $15.3 million for plaintiffs in 40 other cases that was agreed upon earlier this year. (more) |
SUV Crashes Into Office Building in San Jose, California
Units from the San Jose Fire Department and the Santa Clara County Fire Department responded to a call of a vehicle into a structure at 2542 South Bascom Avenue in San Jose ...

SUV Plows Through Crowd at UNC; Six Hurt
... CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) -- Authorities planned to charge a former University of North Carolina student with attempted murder after he allegedly drove a sport utility vehicle through a popular gathering spot on campus Friday, clipping and scattering startled bystanders. No one was seriously hurt.
Mohammed Reza Taheri-azar, 22, who graduated in December after studying psychology and philosophy, was in the custody of campus police. They intended to charge him with attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, said police Capt. George Hare.
The FBI joined the case because Taheri-azar, a native of Iran, ''allegedly made statements that he acted to avenge the American treatment of Muslims,'' said agent Richard Kolko, an FBI spokesman in Washington. ''The ongoing investigation will work to confirm this.'' ...[more]

Woman Drives Station Wagon Into Bookstore
... ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) -- A woman drove a station wagon through a wall of the Barnes & Noble bookstore, sending glass, wood and books flying. Three people suffered leg injuries. Two were taken to a hospital.
The store was filled with shoppers at about 2 p.m. Sunday when the Subaru station wagon plowed backward through picture windows in a reading area in the store's northwest corner. The car took out the travel section and barreled about 40 feet through the bookstore before coming to rest in nonfiction. ... [more] |
